Gonzo (in development)
For those who remember, Gonzo Academy used to be a nice place to go to school. But this year, students have been disappearing. The latest, Penelope, went missing this very morning, on the last day of classes. Nobody’s talking about it. Nobody’s supposed to talk about it. You’re not even supposed to be thinking about it. But something’s happening. Rumours abound of secret rites and dark passages; underneath the school is an endless tunnel too small for an adult to fit through, but just the right size for a child. The PA system crackles to life:
As below so above, my children. Please conduct yourselves into the Greater Hall so we can begin the Ascension day festivities. For many of you, these will be your last hours as a Gonzo pupil. As below, so above. Gonzo is being developed as an immersive theatre experience combining environmental/site-specific techniques with aspects of social gaming and escape rooms. The performance would conduct audiences through the rooms of a real historical school, as they piece together the mystery of what is causing the mysterious disappearances at the fictional Gonzo Academy. Originally planned for production in 2020, Gonzo has been placed on hiatus due to the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. The development of Gonzo has been supported by a Northern Arts grant from the Ontario Arts Council. |
